Fairy Pools

Along with the Old Man of Storr, this is the reason people go to the Isle of Skye. Again, it's easy to find and drive to - don't let the narrow single track roads scare you off. The passing places are actually huge, and it's a relatively open space, so you can see any cars coming. The worst part is probably that you can't take a good look at the view while you're driving.

The Fairy Pools are basically big, deep, green blue pools. They're very pretty, and if you're really brave you can go for a dunk in them.

Once you follow the stream of people down the hill to the pools, you will find them easily. Then, we moved away from the people and just followed the water and pools upstream.

If you keep going long enough you reach a very beautiful, quiet end of the pools. We stopped here to have lunch, admire the view and think about where to go next. The island is fairly small, so planning is essential.

All in all - worth visiting, but go early!
